What zebrabanana does

We keep a list of the people you care about and the occasions that matter to them. We watch the calendar, put a small set of curated gift and card options in front of you ahead of each occasion, and place the order once you approve one. We are the seller of record for the gifts and cards you buy through us.

We are a small service, run by people. We don't promise that every occasion will have options you love, and we may not have anything suitable for some occasions. When that happens, skip it and buy something yourself.

Your account

You need to be 18 or older. Sign-in runs through Clerk, with Google or an email link. Keep your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.

You can only add people to your list whose details you are comfortable sharing with us, and you are responsible for what you add about them. Names, ages, and delivery addresses of other people are yours to give, not ours to verify.

What it costs

Membership is $19 per person, per year, plus sales tax. It covers watching the calendar and curating options all year. Gifts and cards are not included: each is charged separately at retail price when you approve it.

If the price ever changes, we'll email you before it applies, and it will only apply at that person's next renewal, never part way through a year.

Each person has their own year

Every person on your list has their own 12-month coverage period.

• Their renewal is $19 plus tax, charged to your card on file on their own anniversary, independent of everyone else on your list.
• If a renewal charge fails, that person's coverage ends. We do not retry it automatically, and the rest of your list is unaffected.
• Your account shows each person's coverage end date.

Adding someone

Adding a person costs $19 plus tax, charged straight away, with no proration. That person gets their own 12-month coverage period starting then, and their own annual renewal.

Removing someone

• If we haven't ordered a gift for them yet: we refund the membership fee you paid for them, including the sales tax on it. Their coverage ends immediately and their occasions stop.
• If we have already ordered a gift for them: no refund. They stay covered until their own coverage end date and then don't renew.

Stopping renewals

You can stop recurring membership from your account page, or by emailing us. Stopping it means:

• everyone on your list stays covered through their own current end date,
• nothing renews after that,
• there is no membership-fee refund.

If you want coverage to end sooner than that, remove each person individually and the removal rule above applies to them. Your account stays open, and adding someone later starts a fresh 12-month period for that person.

Founding-member satisfaction promise

While we're getting started, for our first 10 to 20 customers: if you aren't satisfied with zebrabanana's service, email us and we'll refund the membership fees you've paid, in full. If you aren't sure whether this applies to you, ask us and we'll tell you.

It covers our service only. It does not cover gifts and cards you approved, or the physical products themselves. Anything to do with a product's quality, condition, or a return goes to the partner that supplied it, under their own policy.

Gifts and cards

• Options arrive by email roughly six weeks before an occasion: up to five gifts and a set of greeting cards. Pick lists expire seven days after we send them.
• You can defer the gift, the card, or both, for any occasion, with no explanation needed. Nothing is charged unless you approve it.
• We don't generate a fresh set of options on demand.
• Approving is an authorization against your card on file. The confirm screen itemizes the gift, the card, and the total before you approve.
• Prices are read when you approve. You pay the retail price, the same price the brand's own store shows.
• We read every card message before it is printed, and we won't print one that is abusive or unlawful.
• The gift and the card ship separately, each timed to arrive by the occasion. We don't gift wrap.
• Delivery is to United States addresses only.
• Delivery dates are our best effort. Once a package is with the carrier, its timing is out of our hands.

Returns and problems with a product

Gifts and cards come from the partners and makers we work with. A damaged, faulty, or wrong item, or a return, is handled with that partner under their policy. Tell us and we'll help you get to the right place, but the sale of the physical product sits between you and them.

Sales tax

Sales tax is calculated and collected by Stripe Tax on every charge, including membership, renewals, gifts, and cards. A refund under the rules above includes the tax that was paid on the refunded amount.

Payments

Payments run through Stripe. Stripe holds your card details; we never see or store your full card number. By starting a membership you authorize us to charge the card you have on file with Stripe for renewals and for gifts and cards you approve. Occasionally your bank will ask you to confirm a charge; if that happens we'll show you a link to confirm it, and the order waits until you do.

Your list and your content

Your list and your card messages stay yours. You give us permission to use them to run the service: to curate options, to print a card, and to place an order. We don't use them for anything else. See our privacy policy.

Ending it

You can delete your account from your profile at any time. Deleting it stops future renewals; charges already made are handled under the refund rules above. We can close an account that abuses the service, doesn't pay, or uses it unlawfully.

Changes to these terms

We'll update this page and email you if we change anything that affects what you pay or what we owe you.

Limits

We provide the service as it is. We aren't liable for a gift arriving late for reasons outside our control, for a partner's product, or for an occasion we didn't have suitable options for. Nothing here limits rights you have that can't be limited by agreement.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kentucky, and any dispute about them will be handled in its courts.
